May 30, 2009 - Deadline is today for all ALC Subsidy applications to be received into the ALTA office. Email or call if you have any questions or concerns about meeting this deadline.
April 30, 2009 - Congratulations to the Brooks Public Library for winning ALTA's 2009 Award of Excellence and to Donna Phillips for winning ALTA's Honorary Life Member Award!
April 24, 2009 - ALTA AGM is today at 3pm in the lower level of the main lodge at the JPL. Hope to see all Trustees there!

April 16, 2009 - Today the Premier and Minister of Municipal Affairs Ray Danyluk announced new increased sustainable funding for libraries! See the link on our home page for more details!
April 5, 2009 - Thank you to all who participated in ALTA's Trustee Workshops this semester. We are so pleased to have so many trustees come out! Thank you to the Camrose, Fort Saskatchewan and Lomond Library Boards for hosting these events! If you would like more information on our workshops or to request one in your area - email our office.
March 9, 2009 - Today is the Early Bird Registration Deadline for the Alberta Library Conference. Be sure to get your online registration completed today for the discounted rate!
February 26, 2009 - Lac La Biche Workshop scheduled for April 4, 2009 has been postponed. We are looking at a new workshop site for the Northern Lights/Metro Edmonton Area and will update you as soon as we have details finalized.

Be sure to visit http://www.librarytrustees.ab.ca/awards our awards page for more information and for the nomination forms. Deadline is February 15, 2009 !
February 1, 2009 - Nominations have been received and accepted for the position of ALTA Area Representative for the following Areas (serving 2009-2011): Area 1 (Peace) - Ray Skrepnek, elected by acclamation. Area 3 (Parkland) - Nominations were received for Valdene Callin and Annette Clews. An election will be held in this area - more information will be available soon. Area 5 (Chinook Arch) - Doug Cooper, elected by acclamation. Area 7 (Metro Edmonton) - no nominations were received and deemed in order by the nominations deadline. Nominations will be called for from the floor of the AGM in April for this position. Congratulations to all of the newly elected Area Representatives and Good Luck to those who will be running for positions in the election.
Nominations for the position of President were received and accepted by the Nominations Committee. We are pleased to announce that Natalia Toroshenko has been elected by acclamation to serve a second term. Congratulations!

January 20, 2009 - A reminder that registration is now open for the Alberta Library Conference. The conference brochure is only online this year - visit www.albertalibraryconference.com for more information and to register online.
January 17, 2009 - ALTA's Board of Directors meeting was held today in Calgary, AB. Minutes from this meeting are available in the Login Members Section under Material for Members - Minutes of Previous Board Meetings or by request to the ALTA office by email admin@librarytrustees.ab.ca.
December 20, 2008 - Reminder that the ALTA office will be closed from December 20th to January 5th for the Holiday Season. On behalf of our President, Area Directors and Administrator, we wish all our members and trustees a Happy Holiday Season!
December 6, 2008 - Membership renewal reminders have been sent out to all member library boards through email. If you have not received a renewal reminder, please contact the ALTA office as soon as possible.
