Resources
One of ALTA's most important mandates is to provide library information and relevant educational opportunities to the thousands of dedicated volunteers who serve as trustees on over 240 library boards in Alberta. Our goal is to help trustees become more informed and effective during their terms of office, and to support them so that their trustee experience will be a more rewarding and productive one.
ALTA's Library Trustee Resource Centre (ATRC) provides links to library foundation statements, legislation, statistics, issues, and reference resources to assist trustees in meeting their responsibilities to their local library boards and to their communities.
The ATRC is organized into topics indicated on the menu to the left. Selecting each of these topics leads to a collection of relevant online resources to inform and inspire trustees. The major roles and responsibilities of trustees have been grouped into 3 major areas of the ATRC:
Trustees as Board Members
Trustees as Advocates for Libraries, and
Trustees as Fund-Raisers --
We hope that you will find both useful information and inspiration in the online resources compiled in our ATRC. It will continue to be a work in progress as we evolve to meet our members' needs.
We welcome your suggestions for additional online resources that would be of interest to library trustees. Feedback is also welcome -- we would like to hear your comments about the ATRC.
