ALC 2010 - The Alberta Library Conference (ALC) 2010 Planning Committee invites proposals for sessions for next year's conference in Jasper, Alberta, April 29 – May 2, 2010.

The theme for ALC 2010 is Alberta Libraries Rock!

This year, we want to hear updates on important issues and focus on new ideas. Perhaps most important, this is also a time to celebrate the Alberta library community.

Libraries and Library Boards are excited about the great success of Alberta libraries! We have worked hard for our success and it’s time to brag about our innovative services and the importance they have in our communities.
Sessions may be of general interest to the library community in Alberta or directed towards the membership of the co-sponsoring organizations: the Alberta Library Trustees Association or the Library Association of Alberta. The committee aims to provide a range of sessions. Proposals of interest to staff and trustees from libraries of all types and sizes are welcome, as well as proposals that are not specific to a particular library type or size.

Please include with your proposal:
· the session title/proposed topic
· a brief abstract of your topic
· the target audience
· a brief summary of the speaker's experience with the topic
· expected remuneration
 
Proposals for pre-conference full or half day sessions are also welcome.

We are interested in receiving proposals from trustees for sessions that would provide education and training for Library Board members. We would very much appreciate it if librarians would share this call for sessions with their Boards. In addition, if trustees have suggestions for speakers or topics of interest to trustees, they are invited to send them to Ann Craig at the email address below, so that she can see if a session can be developed.

CHARTER BUS to ALC 2009 Information and Registration now Available!

ROUTE:

Bus leaves Medicine Hat at 6:30 am Thurs April 23; pick up locations along the Trans Canada Highway can be arranged through Linda Kozakewich.  Bus pick-up in Calgary approx 10:15 am, then Canmore for pick up, Banff for lunch (1 hr sharp), arriving at Jasper Park Lodge approx 4 pm.  Returning Sun April 26 approx 9:30 am. 

COST:

From Medicine Hat to Bassano pick-up -- $205.00 return

From Strathmore to Canmore pick-up -- $120.00 return 

Receipts will be issued.  A fee of $25.00 will be charged if you cancel after Mon April 6, 2009  

Cost is inclusive – Coach, Parks Canada entrance fee, driver costs, refreshments & light snacks
